Over the past couple of years, we have seen Netflix developing itself and embracing major transformations. With the recent technology updates, Netflix of today is completely different from the Netflix which came as the newcomer. Today, it has shifted away from its original purpose of airing licensed content to creating and producing blockbuster content of its own. There was a time when Netflix practically dropped a major chunk of its catalog to free up the funds. This was a pretty much reasonable move considering how much it spends on the original content that it produces. The users and the fans of this media service provider are more into Netflix originals than those which are licensed. The fact that this media provider is very much great in experimentation with unique and creative ideas and stories, is giving Netflix all the attention and money it deserves. Not only this but the success Netflix has received over these years is definitely commendable. This is going to take it a long way further down the road of success and creativity. Furthermore, the abundance of exclusive content on Netflix is expected to fly high and skyrocket in the future.
One of the many accomplishments of Netflix is that even after so many years of its debut, it does not have any place for advertisements in its platform. What people like about this platform is that there are no ads popping up on their screens every now and then. And the good thing on the part of Netflix is that even without any ads it has made it so far and so big. There are other major platforms CBS and Hulu which are full of advertisements and if you want to remove them, you will have to pay a certain added amount.
Users have explained how easy and entertaining it is, to just put on the show you are paying for and watch it in complete peace rather than having annoying ads popping up every now and then and paying for them to be removed. No mid-roll ad breaks are there to intrude the suspense of the narrative. Just pure entertainment on demand. However, some of the shows and movies on Netflix practice product placement but that is pretty much bearable as most of the user’s report.
To experience the best of Netflix, a plethora of its users are habitual of binge watching. Netflix added this very entertaining feature to its system that lets the user’s binge watch all they want. To make it even more fun, it has decided to add an ultra binge-watching experience into the life of its users. All our dreams of being able to ultra binge watch on Netflix seem to have come true.
There have been certain reports that Netflix is trialing a new and a massive level of subscription for its customers which is the ‘Ultra Tier’.
What does Ultra Tier do?
So an Italian blog by the name of Tutto Android has reported that Netflix is testing a new tier of major services for its subscribers that makes the existing top-tier Premium plan supplant. The new plan will allow about four devices to receive Ultra HD and HDR video and audio streaming at the same time. The Italian publication reported that Ultra can join the Original Base, Standard, and Premium tiers at the price point of 16.99 euros or approximately 19.80 euros.
Currently, this new gigantic tier is only available to selected European customers since Netflix, at this point in time is just trailing with the Ultra tier. This tier comes in two different versions and it has a bad effect on the Premium tier. One of the versions provides an option to playback the content on the four screens at the same time in UHD. This downgrades Premium to just two UHD screens. However, the other version offers HDR content only on the Ultra with letting Premium keep its four UHD screens.
While talking to a web-based tabloid, a spokesperson for Netflix said,“We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time. In this case, we are testing slightly different price points and features to better understand how consumers value Netflix”.
It looks like the HDR have good chances to be exclusive to the Ultra plan, however, numbers imply that the frequency of simultaneous streams for the Premium users currently will reduce down from four to two and only the Ultra subscribers will get the four at a pretty much higher price. Looks like this current news of Ultra tier is going to be unpleasant for the Premium users. An important to note the negative effect on the Premium plan is that if the Ultra tier will be officially adopted in the system then the existing Premium users will have to be paying around $6 more for the same type of service with the same level that they have been using before.
