In this highly male dominant world where the feminine gender feels as if they are being pushed backward and being deprived of their basic rights, any single act of empowerment by a female is highly celebrated and cherished on a very big level. Specifically in a country like Pakistan where we see everyday cases of violence and injustice towards women. These incidences do not only involve cruelty and unjust activities forced upon women by the cruel society but also include domestic violence on a high level. This problem is not only prevailing in Pakistan but in most parts of the worlds specifically those regions which cover the third world countries. And the worst things about it is that most of the countries do not even realize this as a problem. The disturbing fact that women are treated as trash in these regions has only been discussed in some of the countries with no solution as a result. However, Pakistan has seen a substantial change in this scenario over a period of time.

There have many debates on this issue on certain platforms and it has been noticed that things have started flowing in a better direction. Women have started moving forward to the road that leads them towards their aims and ambitions in life. Prior to this, when people were scared to talk about equality between men and women, women were scared to chase their dreams. They would feel fearful when it came to going out of their houses to make a name for themselves and it is also due to the fact that society has always been very bashful towards women. But now that things have very steadily drifted towards change ( not completely, but at least a little bit), women of today leave no stone unturned when it comes to proving that they are no less than men in the society.

A great example of this is a recent incident that took place in Pakistan which has left every Pakistani women to feel proud and hold their head high.
Earlier yesterday, there surfaced a picture on the Pakistani internet which showed two women completely owning the show by flying through the mountains all on their own without any assistance from a male captain. The picture was shared by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) which soon caught everyone’s attention and gained millions of resharing.

In the photo, two female pilots can be seen who flew on a difficult route between Islamabad and Gilgit. It was the first time when a flight was taken in charge by a female Captain and female first officer. Captain Maryam Masood and First Officer Shumaila Mazhar can be seen smiling in the picture that was tweeted by the National Airline of Pakistan.
With the picture, the twitter handle of PIA wrote,“The flight to Gilgit is very challenging and requires a lot of precision and technique. Our dynamic duo, Captain Maryam Masood, and First Officer Shumaila Mazhar make it look so easy as they fly through the mountains celebrating the beauty of our northern areas! Way to go! #PIA”.

People in Pakistan especially women can’t stop feeling proud of these girls and soon after the picture was released it gained great media attention and everyone loved it. The citizens cheered the two girls and praised them for their bravery and confidence. It is not only because of their brave decision to take the charges off the plane but also because of the flight route. Gilgit is nestled in a very narrow valley in Pakistan and it is one of the most mountainous places in the Gilgit- Baltistan region. Also, the airstrip is considered to be extremely dangerous as it is located on a slope. The route to Gilgit is very difficult and challenging and it requires a great amount of technique and experience to have a safe and successful flight. But these girls with their determination and confidence completed this challenge and stunned the whole nation.

The post by the Airline has since gone very viral with more than 3000 retweets and over 9000 likes two far. The cheers and claps this dynamic duo received from their fellow Pakistani citizens are unavoidable.

The girls were praised by the whole Nation and from across the border too!

Among the famous tweets that poured in after the news of these brilliant two girls broke in, includes Hamza Ali Abbasi’s take. He took to Twitter to praise the girls.

He wrote: “One of the most technically challenging flights of PIA from Islamabad to Gilgit operated by an all-female flying crew… Bravo Captain Maryam Masood and First Officer Shumaila Mazhar. You both are an inspiration!”

It was not only the Pakistani Nation who was all appreciative, the girls bagged appreciation from across the border as well. Former Indian Police Service Officer Sanjiv Bhatt tweeted ‘Red letter day in the aviation history of Pakistan…”

We are so proud of both the girls and we wish them more success in life!
